Solitude

How often are you alone? Are you afraid to be alone? I think we can be. I know people that have to go to sleep with headphones on or have the TV on in their room because they can’t stand the silence. I think we can train our brains to require constant stimulation to the point that it weirds us out when don’t have it. God says that isn’t good for you. You weren’t designed to be “plugged in” 24/7. Your mind, body and spirit need time to fully reset and recharge.
Matthew 6:6
"But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

 Psalm 46:10
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
Now don’t set out to be a monk right away. Pick 10 or 20 minutes in your day where you unplug. Go for short walk. Turn off the music or try resting before going to bed instead of looking at one more youtube video. Invite God into that space with you. You don’t have to climb a mountain in Tibet to have a bit a quiet in your life.

Solitude is more a state of mind and heart than it is a place. Foster

The practice of solitude can be as simple as an intentional moment in your day where you give God space to renew and refresh you.
